Aftercare- tending to yourself after ConTact CARE or Constellations
After participating in a Family Constellation session or a ConTact CARE session, it is wise to prioritise self-care to help process and integrate the experience.
Allow yourself some quiet time. Tune in to what your body is asking for. If you feel tired, rest. If part of you is aching, play around with what brings you comfort or relief. If memories, thoughts or emotions rise, or are triggered, then take time to witness them with compassion. Notice them and allow them to flow without attaching any stories.
Engage in grounding activities. To feel more centered and connected to your body, consider taking a walk in nature, practicing deep breathing, or doing activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
Stay hydrated and nourished. Support your physical well-being by drinking plenty of water and eating balanced, nutritious meals during the integration process.
Be mindful of your boundaries. It’s okay to step back, set limits on your time and energy, and prioritise self-care. Allow yourself the space you need to process the session.
Family Constellation work can evoke deep emotions and insights. ConTact CARE or Flinchlock Release can also bring back physical and emotional recollections of trauma. It’s normal to feel a range of emotions and sensations afterward. Be kind to yourself and approach these feelings with compassion and gentleness.
Family Constellation work is grounded in the principle of trusting the unfolding process. Avoid overanalysing the session, as this can interfere with the natural emergence of insights and resolutions. Let the experience flow and allow meaning to reveal itself in its own time.
Remember, everyone’s experience with both of these modalities is different. Your comfort and self care is your responsibility. Listen to your needs and respond in a way that feels right for you.
